Engine

The Cat 323 is powered by the Cat® C7.1 single-turbocharged diesel engine with a displacement of 7.01 L, featuring electronic control technology. In the China Stage IV configuration, it delivers a net power of 150.1 kW (201 hp). The engine is capable of running on biodiesel blends up to B20 and meets China Stage IV non-road emission standards. For environmental adaptability, the 323 offers 52°C (125°F) high-ambient cooling capability and cold-start capability down to -18°C (0°F), with an optional -32°C (-25°F) cold-start kit available. The engine is equipped with a dual-element air filter with integrated pre-cleaner and a reversing electric cooling fan for easy cleaning and maintenance.

Hydraulic System

The Cat 323 features an advanced load-sensing hydraulic system with a dual-pump main system delivering a maximum flow of 429 L/min (215 × 2 pumps). In terms of system pressure, the maximum normal operating pressure is 35,000 kPa, which can be boosted to 38,000 kPa in heavy lift or auto dig boost mode; the maximum travel system pressure is 34,300 kPa, and the swing system pressure is 27,500 kPa. The hydraulic tank capacity is 115 L, with a total system capacity of 234 L including the tank. The system automatically matches engine and hydraulic power to digging conditions through Smart mode, achieving an excellent balance between power and efficiency.

Durable Structure

The Cat 323's structural design is centered on long-term reliability and high-strength working capability. The boom and stick feature box-section structures, robotically welded and ultrasonically inspected to ensure maximum durability. The undercarriage uses an X-shaped box-section carbody with excellent torsional resistance, effectively transferring upper structure loads to the tracks. Grease-lubricated track links seal grease between the pin and bushing to keep debris out, extending undercarriage life and reducing travel noise. Additionally, travel motor hydraulic lines are routed inside the frame to prevent damage, and the sloped track frame design prevents the buildup of mud and debris.
